Sustainable development is a masterful balance between the economic growth and nature that conserves land, water, plant and animal genetic resources in technically appropriate, economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally non-degrading manner. Sustainable development neither hinders the social and economic growth of current generation nor exhausts the finite natural resources required for future generations to meet their own needs. It is a realisation of the truth that we are neither the masters of nature nor we have inherited it from our forefathers; instead, we are mere custodian of it for the time during which it passes to our children. Natural resources like minerals, fossil fuels, forests and water are finite. The excessive and wayward growth will only lead to exhaustion of these natural resources and decline of the ecosystem.
