The author is a ‘Missouri’ boy born there over 70 years ago. He still has relatives here and there in Missouri. His Dad would be transferred to Southern Illinois but Bob and his wife would ‘keep the road hot’ running back and forth. A public school teacher for over 30 years (American History, World History, Geography, Government and Civics) he holds an undergrad degree from S.I.U. and a graduate degree from E.I.U.Part of this involved his first book, ‘Remembering Missouri’s Lookout Towers – A Place Above the Trees’ published by Words Matter Publishing in 2019. The Battle of Patterson and Fort Benton is his second Missouri based work with information on: 1) the causes of the Civil War. 2) The war in Missouri, 3) the Battle of Patterson and Fort Benton, 4) the Battle of Pilot Knob, 5) artifacts from the farm in the shadows of Fort Benton, 6) Patterson Cemetery, 7) drone shots and 8) ‘the Farm’.He has sought out numerous sources and some contributions from noted ‘Missouri in the Civil War’ experts. He thanks them all! The book will serve as a good ‘primer’ for basic knowledge and some items, like the artifacts off the farm that even the experienced will find interesting.
