He is the author of Vietnam at War and Imagining Vietnam and America: The Making of Postcolonial Vietnam, 1919–1950 and coeditor of Making Sense of the Vietnam Wars: Transnational and International Perspectives and Truth Claims: Representations and Human Rights.
