This book is an attempt to look at the vast non-urban land use planning of India in its entirety for addressing issues of sustainable rural livelihood security through agriculture and forest development. Since forests and agriculture lands comprise almost all of these landscapes, their land use synergies are discussed from the first hand field experiences on which this narrative is based. As reflected in the document, land use synergy is a multi-purpose utilisation or convergence of applications in designated land use areas, i.e. rural functions in urban areas, farm in cities.
