Out of the blue, a retired professor commits a double murder in his apartment, killing two men. In a monologue, at the police station, he explains why he did it, reflecting on wars, holocausts, religion, power, money, lust, love, and on the intellectual limitations of the human race.

Hugo Van Bever (1953) was born in Belgium, but is now living in Singapore since 2002, where he works as a professor in pediatrics at National University Singapore (NUS). Medicine is his passion, but literature and writing is his hobby, keeping the balance. Since childhood he has been writing short stories and poetry, but he never published non-fiction before. It was under the influence of his friends who urged him that he started publishing now. ‘A Sweet Double Murder’ is his first novel.
