Los autores de esta obra pertenecen a la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), y desarrollan su actividad docente en el Grado de Ingeniería en Diseño Industrial y Desarrollo de Productos y el Máster de Diseño y Fabricación de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería del Diseño.
Han participado en un número extenso de proyectos de investigación de financiación pública y privada, para empresas de diferentes sectores: el mueble (Viccarbe, Gandia Blasco), el juguete (Lego, Famosa), deportivo (Catlike) o el hogar (Casa Vigar), por citar solo algunas. Parte de los resultados obtenidos se han mostrado en publicaciones y congresos de ámbito nacional e internacional y se han recopilado para esta publicación.
