Dr. Ramsundram N, an esteemed associate professor at Kumaraguru College of Technology in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is a leading researcher in environmental engineering, specializing in air pollution and exposure. Having earned his doctoral degree from IIT Madras, he has gained recognition for his impactful research and numerous publications in renowned journals, underlined by his impressive citation record. Dr. Ramsundram”s recent work explores the complex interactions between aerosols, air quality, and health impacts. He delves into the relationship between Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and particulate matter (PM2.5), utilizing predictive modeling to assess air quality and precipitation patterns. His studies have also revealed critical insights into how Body Mass Index (BMI) influences PM2.5 deposition in the respiratory system, showing how individual susceptibility to air pollution varies. His research has furthered understanding of occupational health risks through elemental analysis of PM10 and PM2.5 in environments such as auto-repair garages and households, revealing distinct exposures and health outcomes. Variations in age and gender are shown to affect how particulate matter is deposited in the body, leading to diverse health impacts across populations. Another notable area of his research examines how urban pollution affects ocular health, particularly with the accumulation of particles on contact lenses. Dr. Ramsundram has also investigated the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on urban air quality, documenting how shifts in human activity influenced pollution levels. His work continues to illuminate the intricate relationships between environmental factors, aerosols, and human health, highlighting the need for ongoing research to address these pressing challenges.
