Educator- attorney- radio and television co host- philosophical humanist. Richard Hammond, the first of the “Baby Boomer” generation, was born in 1946 the second child of parents who were part of the second Great Migration of African Americans from the south (circa 1940-1970). After the disintegration of the parental marital bonds, he was reared in the Brewster-Douglas public housing projects of Detroit. Most of his youth he was the recipient of public general assistance while being educated in Detroit public school system. He attended Tennessee A&I State Univ. 1964-1967 on a swimming scholarship. He is the father of three sons. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Wayne State University in 1973 and Juris doctor degree from Detroit College of Law in 1991. He embraced the ancient Hebrew faith in 1969. While researching his Hebrew roots in Africa, he was expelled from Israel and kidnapped by government soldiers, interrogated, tortured, and imprisoned being charged with espionage in Ethiopia: a casualty of the USA/USSR cold war in 1977. Since his graduation from Law school he has traveled extensively around the country after retirement from the City of Detroit in 1992. He has taught in the public schools of Tennessee, South Carolina, Arizona, Minnesota, and Michigan. He has several manuscripts (unpublished books) reflecting his experiences in America and beyond during his 19 year absence from his hometown of Detroit, MI. He is a man with a message for humanity.
