Dr. Narpinder Singh is a highly accomplished academician with over 36 years of experience in teaching, research, industry mentoring, and administration. He is currently the Vice Chancellor at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. He has effectively shared his research expertise with the scientific community, as evidenced by his total 315 research papers in journals of international repute (Food Chemistry, Cereal Chemistry, Journal of Food Science, Food Hydrocolloids, Food Research International, Starch/Starke, Carbohydrate Polymers, LWT – Food Science and Technology, International Journal of Food Science and Technology, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, and ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering). He has also contributed 20 book chapters, 35 review papers, 3 Editorials. His co-authored book entitled “Pulse Chemistry and Technology: published in 2012 by “The Royal Society of Chemistry is subscribed as textbook in many Universities. Dr. Singh is fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry; Cereals and Grains Association (formerly American Association of Cereal Chemists, AACC); Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (I); National Academy of Sciences, India; the Indian National Science Academy; The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is presently holding J. C. Bose National Fellowship of Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for outstanding research performance. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Food Science and Technology (Springer) February 2016 – May 2019. He served as Guest Editor of Special Issue on “Proteins isolates and hydrolysates: structure-function relation, production, bio activities and applications for traditional and modern high nutritional value-added food products” of International Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2021 and Associate Editor of Frontier in Nutrition Section Food Chemistry since 2021. He is recognized as Highly Cited researcher for his exceptional research performance demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in top 1% for the field and year in Agricultural Sciences by Clarivate-2021, 2022 and 2023. He is Guest Editor of Special issue: Metabolomics applications in food science, technology and nutrition, of International Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2024. Dr. S. Ananda Babu has a Ph D from Osmania University (OU), India. He is a societal awareness specialist and scholar, an author and editor of numerous books including several on Disaster Risk Reduction, Community Resilience and Responses. In addition, Dr. S Ananda Babu is the Founder President of the Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS) and the Convener of the World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) established in 2005. In the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, to enhance understanding and awareness among people about the risk of various types and dimensions of disasters and the measures to be taken for reducing the risks, for better preparedness, response, and recovery, the DMICS and the WCDM have taken on the task of creating awareness through multi-disciplinary research, publications, and multi-stake holder consultations. The World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) is a unique initiative of DMICS bring researchers, policy makers and practitioners from around the world to a common platform to discuss various challenging issues of disaster risk management. Under Dr. Ananda Babu’s leadership, the first WCDM took place in 2008 in the Hitech city of Hyderabad and was inaugurated by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India, with Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh presiding over the inaugural function. Delegates representing various international, regional, national, state, and local governments, UN bodies, scientific and technical organizations, universities, civil society organizations, corporate sector and media attended the Congress.
