Mary Anne Prater, Ph.D., is professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Special Education at Brigham Young University. She has taught in Utah, Illinois, Hawaii, and Alaska. Her areas of expertise include instructional strategies for students with mild to moderate disabilities, special education teacher preparation, and the portrayal of disabilities in children”s literature. She is a co-founder of the Dolly Gray Children”s Literature Award and has written several books, including Teaching Strategies for Students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities and A Teacher”s Guide to Communicating with Parents: Practical Strategies for Developing Successful Relationships.
