Passchendaele 1917
Passchendaele is perhaps one of the most iconic campaigns of the First World War, coming to symbolize the mud and blood of the battlefield like no other. Fought for over three months under some of the worst conditions of the war, fighting became bogged down in a quagmire that made it almost impossible for any gains to be made.

Andrew Robertshaw is an acclaimed First World War historian and was the lead historical consultant for Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. In 2012 he constructed a full-scale trench replica in Surrey which is now a BBC filming location and educational facility for school groups and specialists to learn more about trench life in the First World War. Amongst his many works he has written 24hr Trench and Feeding Tommy for The History Press.
