Bob Welch es autor de quince libros, laureado columnista, orador y antiguo profesor adjunto de periodismo en la Universidad de Oregón en Eugene. La Sociedad Nacional de Columnistas de Periódicos ha elegido en dos ocasiones sus columnas como las mejores del país. Asimismo, Welch ha sido galardonado con el Premio C. B. Blethen del Seattle Times a la Redacción de Artículos Distinguidos, y con los premios a la «Mejor Escritura» y la «Mejor Columna» de la Asociación de Editores de Periódicos de Oregón. Sus artículos han sido publicados en libros inspiradores, incluida la popular serie Chicken Soup for the Soul (Sopa de pollo para el alma), y en revistas como Reader”s Digest, Sports Illustrated, Runner”s World y Focus on the Family. Welch da charlas por todo el país y es fundador y director del Beachside Writers Workshop (Taller de Escritura de Beachside) en Yachats, Oregón. Su mujer Sally y él tienen dos hijos adultos y cuatro nietos. Viven en Eugene.
