Beth E. Kinne is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, in Geneva, New York, where she teaches environmental law, natural resource law, global water issues, and business law. She also teaches the senior capstone course for majors in environmental studies, with a recent focus on understanding and communicating the complex issues surrounding the development of the Marcellus Shale in New York State. In July 2011, she co-chaired a conference, Proactive Approaches to Mitigating Impacts of Marcellus Shale Development, at the Finger Lakes Institute, Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She is currently guest-editing a special issue, on the Marcellus Shale, of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Science. Before joining the Hobart and William Smith faculty, she worked as a municipal and water rights attorney in Garfield County, Colorado from 2005 to 2008. She is admitted to practice in Washington State, Colorado, and New York. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the National Youth Science Foundation.Erica Levine Powers is a land use and environmental lawyer with a strong interest in transitional and alternative energy transactions, infrastructure, policy and regulation.
