Particulate matter are fine particles, and soot, which are tiny subdivisions of solid matter suspended in a gas or liquid. Sources of particulate matter can be man-made or natural. Air pollution and water pollution can take the form of solid particulate matter, or be dissolved. In this book, the authors gather and present topical research in the study of the sources, emission rates and health effects of particulate matter.
