A young governess takes a position caring for the orphaned niece and nephew of her employer after the death of the previous governess. The children, Miles and Flora, seem charming and sweet, but the governess suspects that they are hiding something. Why was Miles expelled from school? And where does Flora go in the dark hours of the night? The governess is haunted by ghosts that only she can see-and she is convinced that they are after the children.
