Larry D. Black was born in 1947 and reared on a northeast Texas farm. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and retired from a major defense company with 27 years of service. He lives on 180 acres in southern Franklin County near Mt. Vernon, Texas, where he operates a Boer Goat farm. In addition to being a goat raiser, he is a full-time preacher for the church of Christ. He is married to Martha and together they have five children and eleven grandchildren
