Mary Webb
Gone to Earth (Barnes & Noble Digital Library) [EPUB ebook]

Destek

Hazel Woodus has a father who plays the harp and builds coffins. Her closest friend is a pet fox. Even so, this beautiful child of nature can’t help but draw men to her, including the minister who she marries and the fox-hunter who relentlessly pursues her. Hazel’s naïveté allows Mary Webb’s themes of human cruelty, savagery, and sacrifice to come through.

Yazar hakkında

Mary Webb (1881-1927), born Gladys Mary Meredith in Shropshire, England, wrote poetry and prose about her native countryside and the people who inhabited it. Her novels were rediscovered by readers in the late twentieth century, and are prized for their descriptions of nature and her characters’ psychological depth—they have also been made into films.
