This special collection presents the fruits of a forum where researchers were able to present the most advanced and novel scientific results and technological developments in the field of eco-materials processing and design. The aim was to overview the current status and to foresee future likely trends in the field of eco-materials processing and design of energy- and environment-related materials. Many fruitful and exciting research achievements are presented here; not only in conventional areas, but also in sustainable energy sources such as solar cells and fuel cells, photochemistry, porous materials, biomass, and bio-inspired technologies for developing microstructures offering superior surface and bulk properties.
