Die Kanadierin Maude Barlow ist die weltweit führende Aktivistin zum Thema Wasser; als erste wirkte sie darauf hin, Wasser als Menschenrecht in der UN-Charta zu verankern. Sie leitet den Council of Canadians sowie Food and Water Watch in Washington, ist Mitglied im World Future Council, wirkte als Beraterin der UN und wurde mit internationalen Preisen wie dem Right Livelihood Award und dem EarthCare Award ausgezeichnet. In Deutschland wurde sie durch ihr mit Tony Clarke geschriebenes Buch “Blaues Gold” bekannt. Maude Barlow lebt in Ottawa, Ontario.
