Adamu is the high-jumping contest of the Maasai tribe in Kenya and Tanzania. It is a fable, an allegory that describes how a boy, in jumping so high, finds his grounding, that which is really important.

Nancy Huidekoper lives in Washington, DC. She has worked for National Geographic and traveled often to East Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. There, she has spent time with the Maasai and Samburu tribes and learned of their culture and traditions. Nan is the mother of four children, who she hopes will find grounding as they soar into life.
