I live in England, and I went to a prestigious local school, and this was when a teacher told my class to write a Bucket List of goals that each of us wanted to achieve during our life time. After leaving school I worked in the family business producing leather for clothing and shoe manufacturers. I became Sales Director and visited 26 countries where I saw wealth in countries like Denmark and poverty in India. In 1981, I moved to Australia with my wife and three young daughters, and we became Australian citizens. We moved to New Zealand in 1985 when I became Sales Director of the world’s largest woolskin factory. Two years later I left to start my own leather and woolskin importing business in Australia selling to shoe, clothing and leather furniture factories.
My life then began to change when I was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 1989 and my walking became increasingly more difficult every year and then in 1998 my wife and I divorced. I visited England 8 times and on one visit I met my eldest daughter at a café, and she brought a friend named Sandra with her who also had progressive MS. We were attracted to each other and went out several times before I went back to Australia. I sold my business and returned to England to continue our relationship and after a few months we became engaged. After getting a six-month spouse visa we moved back to Australia. We were married on Xmas Eve in 2001 at 6 pm in the open air in the beautiful Botanical Gardens next to Sydney Harbour. Our wedding party consisted of 20 local friends and relatives from England. After a two-hour cruise on Sydney Harbour, we had a meal in a revolving restaurant on the 44th floor and we saw Santa arrive at midnight.
By 2009 my walking had become so bad we moved back to England to be with our families and in 2019, I was in a wheelchair, and I now spend the day working on my computer writing and marketing my book with Author House. I have a carer in the morning to get me up, a carer at night to put me to bed and my wife is my carer during the day, so our life is a constant struggle.
I completed my bucket list when I started my book. I have a friend who was abused by a relative when she was about five years old and a carer who occasionally suffers from migraine and these facts was all I needed to write this book.
I am writing a second book with the title Undamage us… Summer. It is 3 years later, and they have moved to Australia and living in Jack’s beach side flat in Sydney. They are very happy, and Jack is thinking about proposing to Summer but then their relationship is threatened when they both get involved in relationship breaking events. Will their love for each other be strong enough to survive? There’s only one way to find out.
