Dr. Asok Kumar Ray (b.1951) obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees in Political Science from Burdwan University, West Bengal and taught Political Science at degree level in Manipur. He has extensively worked on the political systems of the highlander tribes of the north east. He has authored three books. Also, he has coedited seven books. Besides, he conducted a FAO-Forestry Study on Marketing of NTFP in Bihar and M.P. He has to his credit about one hundred research papers presented in different national and international seminars. Many of his research papers have been published in different academic journals and books. Dr. Satyabrata Chakraborti (b.1943) obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Anthropology from Calcutta University. He retired from Anthropological Survey of India, Government of India, as the Deputy Director in January 2003. He studied the problems of some marginal tribes as well as some peasant and urban communities in West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, some parts of North-East India and Andaman. He also served as the Visiting Faculty in Arunachal University, Vidyasagar University, West Bengal and Lal Bahadur Sastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Dr. Chakraborti has authored, edited, co-edited eleven books and published more than fifty research papers.
