Alton Keith Gilbert graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1951 in the Naval ROTC “Holloway” program, with both an engineering degree and a commission in the Navy. After three years active duty, he continued his service in the Naval Reserve amphibious and intelligence groups, eventually retiring as a Captain, USNR. His career as an engineer has led him to projects from South America to Washington DC. A father of three sons, he currently resides with his wife, Katherine in San Diego.
