Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) was an Italian member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic in the Roman Catholic Church. She was a mystic, activist, and author who had a great influence on Italian literature and on the Catholic Church. Catherine”s theology can be described as mystical, and was employed toward practical ends for her own spiritual life or those of others. Her major treatise is The Dialogue of Divine Providence.
