J. Steven York (*1957 in Alabama, USA) wuchs im ländlichen Südosten Alabamas auf, was zu einem großen Interesse für Science-Fiction und Fantasy führte. Er begann schon während seiner Schulzeit Zeitschriftenartikel zu verfassen und schrieb zahlreiche Kurzgeschichten. Er arbeitete als Autor und Story Designer an mehreren Computerspielen. Yorks längere Arbeiten erscheinen zumeist als Teil größerer Serien, wie Mech Warrior: Dark Age, Star Fleet Engineering Corps oder Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Er lebt derzeit mit seiner Frau in Oregon und gibt einen wöchentlichen Webcomic heraus.
