“Spray, the Bug” was a family collaboration. One of the author’s children came up with the inspiration, and another drew the illustrations (using thumbs on a phone app!). The author, Joyce Shui, earned her degrees from Harvard and New York University and is a business owner, technology attorney, and compliance manager. She is a fierce advocate for racial equity and is a lover of words and grammar. Joyce loves kids, music, language learning, travel, and food and is not afraid of bugs. She writes children’s stories in between a full-time job, taking care of kids, providing volunteer service to the community, and playing the ukulele.
