KAY BOYLE (1902 – 1992)
Fue una novelista, cuentista, educadora y activista política estadounidense que vivió muchos años en Europa. Al regresar a su país, fue víctima del
macartismo y perdió su corresponsalía para The New Yorker. En 1963, Boyle se convirtió en profesora de Escritura Creativa en la Universidad Estatal de San Francisco;por su defensa de los derechos civiles, fue detenida dos veces y encarcelada.
Miembro de la Academia Americana de las Artes y las Letras, recibió dos premios O. Henry, dos becas Guggenheim y la del Fondo Nacional de las Artes. Publicó más de cuarenta libros, entre ellos catorce novelas, ocho volúmenes de poesía, once colecciones
de relatos, tres libros infantiles y varias traducciones. Murió en una comunidad de jubilados de California en 1992.
