Associate Professor Mike Climstein
Mike is Director of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Southern Cross University and Director of the Water Based Research. He is an esteemed researcher with over 160 original research and review articles, $7, 800, 000 in external research funding. He has most recently been funded by Johnson and Johnson for his research in skin cancer in the early identification of malignant melanomas utilizing artificial intelligence in aquatic and outdoor enthusiasts. Mike serves on the Editorial Board for Sports and Peer J: Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and has been awarded Fellowship status by the Australian Sports Medicine Federation, American College of Sports Medicine and Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Mike’s primary areas of clinical teaching include cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, musculoskeletal disease and research methodologies & statistics.
Dr Joe Walsh
Joe has extensive teaching and research experienceand has developed over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Joe has extensive experience in presenting at international and domestic academic conferences. He has worked for many years as a principal investigator in a multinational team, focusing on the nexus between ageing, physical education, and obesity. He has conducted research in various fields in sport science and sport medicine as well as in applied AI. He has successfully developed and delivered statistics courses and provided statistical support to staff and students at several universities. He manages a team of data scientists and engineers to build AI models and optimize business processes, but also likes to get involved with building models and teaching.
Dr Ian Tim Heazlewood
Currently consultant with Sports Science Associates. Retired Associate Professor – Exercise & Sport Science Ian Tim Heazlewood (preferred name Tim) from Charles Darwin University. An academic and sport science researcher specialising in human movement, exercise and sport science for more than 35 years. He has also worked in private industry in health-related research. Coach and research consultant for elite / high performance athletes, including past and current world, national and state champions, and minor medallists across many sports. These sports include athletics, rugby union, rugby league, weight/power lifting, squash, BMX, Australian cricket and NSW and Australian Touch. NT high performance athletics coach.
