Frank Sellke is the Karlson & Karlson Professor and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Lifespan Hospitals. He has previously served as the Johnson & Johnson Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, having been a successful clinician, educator and researcher in the cardiovascular field. My research focuses on microcirculation of the heart, brain and other organs as it relates to vasomotor regulation, permeability and collateral development. Dr Sellke is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the Circulation Journal, Guest Editor for Circulation, and serve as a member of several other editorial boards. He is  Editor in Chief of the last 3 editions of Sabiston and Spencers” Textbook “Surgery of the Chest” and the Editor of the 1st and 2nd editions of  “Atlas of Cardiac Surgery”. Dr Sellke is the Past Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Cardiothoracic Surgery of the American College of Surgeons, Past Chairman of the AHA Council on Cardiovascular Surgery and Anesthesia, and Chairman of the DSMB of the National Institutes of Health sponsored Cardiac Surgery Network. He is the immediate past-Chairman of the Committee of Scientific Sessions Program of the American Heart Association and serves as a full time member of the Bioengineering, Technology and Surgical Science Study Section of the National Institutes of Health. He has authors several chapters on acute aortic dissection and is an active practitioner in this clinical area.
