After the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the Christian message began to spread to areas outside of Jerusalem. The gospel of Luke addresses Jesus’ message of salvation to all of humanity.
Rev. Anderson asserts that though this gospel addresses all humanity, we will find in God’s Word here that Luke has a special concern for all outcasts: ‘the poor, the sick, sinners, women, foreigners, and conquerors. He writes a gospel filled with compassion and mercy for the downtrodden.’

As an educator and author with more than forty five years of experience, Father William A. Anderson has served as pastor, professor, catechist, and spiritual director. He has written extensively on pastoral, spiritual, and religious topics. He presents workshops for parishioners and catechists as well as directing parish missions and retreats for presbyters, religious, and laity. His workshops have included topics such as Sacred Scripture, Christology, Ecclesiology, Catholic Church History, and Sacramental Theology. Father Anderson earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Saint Mary’ Seminary and University, Baltimore, Maryland, and his Doctorate in Sacred Theology from Duquesne University, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He is a presbyter of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
