The Sound and the Fury is a novel written by American writer William Faulkner. It tells the family tragedy of the southern landlord Compson family. For readers who like Faulkner’s works, this book is not to be missed.The elder Compson is idle and indulges in alcohol. His wife is selfish and cold, complaining about the world. The eldest son desperately clings to the so-called old traditions of the South, and is torn between love and hate due to his sister’s promiscuity and dishonoring of the Southern lady’s identity.
