His schooling at Dulwich College and subsequent studies at Trinity College, Oxford, furnished him with a classical education that would underpin his writing style, characterized by its vivid descriptions and intricate plots. Mason is perhaps best known for his creation of the character Inspector Hanaud, featuring in a series of detective novels that predated Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot.
