Published posthumously, Royal Brothers tells the story of young King Edward V and his younger brother, the Duke of York, who were imprisoned, proclaimed illegitimate, and murdered—while their uncle Richard made himself King Richard III. While Strickland took painstaking efforts with her writing, critics would later deem her work as sentimental and lacking impartiality.
Giới thiệu về tác giả
Agnes Strickland (1796–1874) was an English historical writer, novelist, poet, and children’s book writer. She collaborated with her older sister Elizabeth on a twelve-volume work entitled The Lives of the Queens of England from 1840 to 1849. Though she began her literary career as a poet, she later abandoned the practice to write historical tales, which are useful but not objective.
