Giới thiệu về tác giả

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a prolific Scottish writer and physician, renowned for his detective fiction, particularly the Sherlock Holmes series. His literary creation Holmes is recognized as one of the most iconic characters in crime fiction, shaping the genre with a deductive method of reasoning called ‘Holmesian logic.’ Doyle began his writing career while practicing medicine, achieving success with ‘A Study in Scarlet’ in 1887, which introduced Holmes to the reading public. He penned numerous adventures for his consulting detective which were compiled into collections such as ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ (1892) and ‘The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes’ (1894). Despite his attempt to move away from Holmes by killing the character in ‘The Final Problem’ (1893), public pressure led to the character’s revival in ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ (1902) and ‘The Return of Sherlock Holmes’ (1905). Doyle’s contribution extends beyond Holmes, including historical novels, sci-fi, romances, poetry, plays, and non-fiction. In ‘British Mysteries Boxed Set: 560+ Thriller Classics, Detective Stories & True Crime Stories, ‘ his prowess in weaving complex narratives steeped in meticulous detail and psychological insight is showcased. Doyle’s impact on literature cannot be understated; his works remain staples of literary education and continue to inspire adaptations and imitations. He was knighted in 1902 by King Edward VII, solidifying his status as a key figure in British literature and culture.
