Elizabeth Edmondson wurde 1948 in Chile geboren, wuchs in Indien auf und studierte später in Oxford. Schon als Kind entdeckte sie ihr Talent zum Schreiben und veröffentlichte später unter ihrem Klarnamen und ihrem Pseudonym Elizabeth Aston erfolgreich über 30 Romane. Mit »Lady Helenas Geheimnis« gelang ihr der große Durchbruch in Deutschland. Ihre Kriminalromane »Der Tote in der Kapelle« und »Mord auf Selchester Castle« avancierten in Großbritannien zum Publikumsliebling. Elizabeth Edmondson lebte mit ihrer Familie zuletzt in England und Italien. Im Januar 2016 verstarb sie unerwartet nach kurzer, schwerer Krankheit.
