James Elroy Flecker (1884-1915) was born in London as Herman Elroy Flecker. He attended Oxford and Cambridge, and served in the consular service in the Mediterranean. Best known for his poems “To a poet a thousand years hence” and “The Golden Journey to Samarkand, ” his work has been quoted by Neil Gaiman and Jorge Luis Borges.
