This book takes the ideological background of the transformation of the scope of Taoist studies from the early Southern Song Dynasty to Zhu Xi’s grasp of the discourse power of Taoism. It systematically studies the logical structure and characteristics of Zhang Jiucheng’s philosophical thoughts from aspects such as Qi theory, the relationship between heaven and man, human nature theory, practice theory, classics, and the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism. At the same time, it focuses on combing the context of the history of thought, analyzing Zhang Jiucheng’s inheritance and development of Luoxue, as well as the debates and conflicts with other Neo-Confucian scholars, especially the differences with Zhu Xi’s learning, and the debate between Confucianism and Buddhism, in order to present the original appearance of his thoughts and enrich the understanding of the inheritance and development of Neo-Confucianism in the early Southern Song Dynasty, and to show the continuity of the intellectual history of this period.
