Already a decorated heroine of the First World War, British-born Mary Lindell, Comtesse de Milleville, was one of the most colourful and courageous agents of the Second World War, yet her story has almost been forgotten. His other books include Nelson’s Band of Brothers and News of Nelson: John Lapenotiere’s Race from Trafalgar to London. In 2011 he was elected fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
