Dr. rer. oec. Peter Maaß ist Fachingenieur für Korrosionsschutz und leitete von 1970 bis 1990 die Leit- und Koordinierungsstelle für Feuerverzinken der DDR. Von 1990 bis 2003 war er Institutsleiter Nordost des Instituts für Feuerverzinken Gmb H in Düsseldorf. Bereits 1974 veröffentlichte er das Handbuch Feuerverzinken in seiner ersten Auflage, um 1993 dann die zweite Auflage herauszugeben.
