Despite its unfinished status, the story of the young laird Archie Weir and his struggle to break free of his tyrannical father’s influence is considered Stevenson’s masterpiece.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was a Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer whose life was haunted by the tuberculosis that would eventually kill him at age 44. His best known works are the classics Treasure Island, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped, and A Child’s Garden of Verses.
