The name Guatemala has Indian origins, but over time the meaning of the name has long been lost.
Some people believe that the name was originally from the Aztecs and not the Mayans that once lived in what is now called Guatemala. A few ideas behind the name Guatemala could mean Land of Trees but could also mean Mountain of Vomiting Water!
