V.K. Agnihotri, an IAS Officer of the 1968 batch, belongs to Andhra Pradesh cadre of the service. Born on 25 August, 1945, he obtained his Masters degrees in English Literature and Political Science from the University of Allahabad, Allahabad. He was the recipient of several awards and honours during his distinguished academic career. Before joining the IAS, he served on the Faculty of the Department of English, University of Allahabad. He has held several positions with the State and Central Governments. His previous substantive assignment was Development Commissioner for Handloom in the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, prior to his joining the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, as its Joint Director and Coordinator of Public Administration Faculty. He is also the Chairman of the Core Group of the Centre for Micro-Planning and Regional Studies as well as SOFTRAIN at the Academy. He has been a Visiting Fellow to the Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford in 1991-92. He has extensive experience in development administration and public policy making. His current area of research is public policy analysis and design. He has published several articles and books. He has recently co-edited the book Environment and Development.
