During many years as a part-time, temporary, adjunct and assistant professor at Michigan State University, Vivian Scott Hixson has produced hundreds of cartoons commenting on the academic scene. Described as “brilliantly perceptive” “on-target humor”, they have often appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, and have been widely re-printed in textbooks and newsletters. The earlier cartoons were re-published as a collection, He Looks Too Happy to Be an Assistant Professor, by the University of Missouri Press in 1995. This second collection makes the more recent cartoons available to all.
