William C. Potter is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan Law School. He practiced law in Florida from 1965 until 2002, when he moved to Europe to serve as Head of the Rule of Law Department of the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served on the board of directors of several banks and businesses, including a publicly-traded defense contractor. He served as a Trustee of Florida Institute of Technology from 1980 to 2022, including serving as Chair from 1990 to 1997. He currently serves as a Trustee Emeritus. He was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. He was inducted into the Space Coast Business Hall of Fame in 2016. He is the author of the book A Bosnian Diary: A Floridian”s Experience in Nation-Building, published by the Florida Historical Society in 2005 and the book Melbourne Orlando International Airport: A History from 1928 to 2022, self-published in 2022. Potter is a retired officer of the Florida Air National Guard, where he served as Judge Advocate General for Florida.
