This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on the Applications of Evolutionary Computation, Evo Applications 2013, held in Vienna, Austria, in April 2013, colocated with the Evo* 2013 events Euro GP, Evo COP, Evo BIO, and Evo MUSART. The 65 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 119 submissions. Evo Applications 2013 consisted of the following 12 tracks: Evo COMNET (nature-inspired techniques for telecommunication networks and other parallel and distributed systems), Evo COMPLEX (evolutionary algorithms and complex systems), Evo ENERGY (evolutionary computation in energy applications), Evo FIN (evolutionary and natural computation in finance and economics), Evo GAMES (bio-inspired algorithms in games), Evo IASP (evolutionary computation in image analysis, signal processing, and pattern recognition), Evo INDUSTRY (nature-inspired techniques in industrial settings), Evo NUM (bio-inspired algorithms for continuous parameter optimization), Evo PAR (parallel implementation of evolutionary algorithms), Evo RISK (computational intelligence for risk management, security and defence applications), Evo ROBOT (evolutionary computation in robotics), and Evo STOC (evolutionary algorithms in stochastic and dynamic environments).
