Buddy G. Webb as a child in 1939
B.G. Webb was born in Moline, Illinois in 1935 and graduated from Moline High School in 1953. He earned a B.A. in history from Augustana College in 1957. Later, he attended the University of Illinois and earned a M.A. in history in 1959. He taught social studies for thirty-three years, mainly at Webster Groves High School in St. Louis County.
During his years as a teacher, he wrote five articles for various professional journals about some of his creative courses and teaching methods. The most acclaimed one was entitled, “Teaching Students How To Change Their Communities, ” School and Community (Nov. 1975).
After he retired, he joined a writing group through the Oasis Program. That experience encouraged him to write and publish several books.
In 1998 he wrote a novel entitled, HOME FRONT DIARY – 1944 which was loosely based on his upbringing in Moline during World War II.
In 2005 he brought out a book entitled, VOICES AND SHADOWS OF OLD MOLINE – 1935 – 1955. It included the better pieces that he had written about his home town.
In 2007 Up Close and Very Personal was published. It includes many personal inner thoughts about himself and life.
