Michael Werner, geb. 1946, studierte Germanistik, Romanistik und Geschichte in Freiburg, München und Bonn und lebt seit 1969 in Paris. Seit 1991 ist er Professor für Sozialgeschichte der deutsch-französischen Kulturbeziehungen an der École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), wo er auch das Centre de recherches interdisciplinaires sur l”Allemagne leitet.
