The first of the two parts of the Constitutional Documents of Italy and Malta 1787–1850 contains over 15 national Italian constitutional documents and drafts of constitutions, beginning with the ‘Basi costituzionali del rinascente Impero Romano’ (1814) to the ‘Progetto del Congresso Nazionale per la Confederazione Italiana’ (1848). Furthermore it contains in alphabetical order, 53 regional constitutions from Ancona to Lucca, which document primarily the early Italian republicanism in the era of French revolution (f.e. ‘Costituzione della Repubblica Ligure’, 1797), the time of Napoleonic invasion (‘Proclamation du Royaume d’Italie / Proclamazione del Regno d’Italia’, 1805) and the epoch of restoration after 1814/15 (‘Ristabilimento della Costituzione degli Stati Genovesi’, 1814).
