J. M. Barrie (1860–1937) and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) were Scotland-born authors known for producing prolific works. As a child, Barrie was an avid reader who loved serialized stories. He went on to study literature at University of Edinburgh and wrote for the Edinburgh Evening Courant. Both men made their mark in publishing by writing bold and beloved characters that would stand the test of time.
