A deadly terrorist attack on a New Your City department store during the Christmas season leads to the activation by the President of the United States of The Unity Project, which is a plan to rid the world of religious conflict and hate, and create a unified global community. A series of secular victories and theist defeats, and new archeological evidence that all the major religions are nothing more than reconstituted mythology leads to an escalation of religious violence, which in turn leads to a global war between the secularist technocrats and the theists. The three monotheistic religions all believe that Jerusalem would be the site of Armageddon, the final battle between good and evil before Judgment Day. They were right.
